Dr Pete Fox

Dr Peter Fox is a metallurgist and electron microscopist who before researching into rapid manufacturing worked in such diverse fields as superalloy-coating oxidation, the growth of single crystal high temperature superconductors and metal matrix composites. These research areas have in common with rapid manufacturing of metals a need to understand the relationship between the alloy used, the processed employed and the properties produced.  His current research is in understanding the behaviour of parts produced by Selective Laser Melting, considering the role of minor additions in determining build quality and the development and control of residual stresses induced by the SLM process.
