Centre for Laser-based Production Processes sponsors AILU conference

Fibre-coupled laser systems for welding automotive gear controllers along with a 20kW laser cell installed at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry, UK, were both discussed at AILU's Power Beam Delivery and Manipulation conference sponsored by the Centre for Laser-based Production Processes, which took place on 3 December 2013.

Launch Event - Centre for Industrial Manufacturing Laser-based Production Processes

The EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Laser-based Production Processes held their official launch event on the 16th December 2013.  Researchers from the Universities involved and industry partners attended to hear the Centre's plans for the next five years and initial project plans.  Research associates and PhD students presented their recent work during lab tours and poster sessions.

"A culture of collaboration already appears to be embedded in the Centre staff and this bodes well for the future" Len Cooke, Chair of the Centre's Steering Group.
