360° Virtual Open Day at Cranfield University

The laser lab at Cranfield University will now be included into the interactive map of the University campus with 360° pictures of the laser lab and videos showing the lasers in operation.  This virtual open day platform will enable prospective students and companies to explore the laboratory and see examples of laser processing.

Match made in… CIM-Laser Meeting…

Professor Phil Prangnell and Dr Yingtao Tian (Manchester University) have, in conjunction with AWE, been exploring material characterisation. Experiments in a number of laser additively manufactured samples were carried out with very promising results.  They are hoping that further discussions may lead to the possibility of a new project in the near future.

Sci-Tech Tour

Dr Ian Ashton gave a tour of the University of Liverpool Additive Manufacturing facilities to a delegation from Sci-Tech Daresbury, a Science and Technology Facilities Council funded research innovation campus based in Cheshire.

This was an initial meeting to open up the possibilities of industrial/academic collaborations.
