Peking University and Royal Society of Edinburgh visit the Centre

A delegation led by Professor Tariq Durrani, Vice-President (International) of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and WANG Jie, Vice-President of Peking University visited Heriot-Watt University to see some of the University’s research projects on Thursday 18 June.

Professor Duncan Hand welcomed the visiting group to the Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Laser-based Production Processes.  During the visit discussions took place about research, the benefits of internationalisation and the development of student exchanges.

Peking University is a national key university in China, established in 1898 as the first national comprehensive institution of higher learning to be founded in China.  It has a very prestigious academic reputation and has always been at the forefront of China’s modernization.
