Implementation of 2.1 µm high brightness CW and Q-switched laser sources

Following the outcomes of the CIM-Laser project: CfIM-16 “Feasibility & design: 2 µm lasers for industrial applications,” we propose to demonstrate and produce two possible ways of generating high brightness 2.1 µm laser radiation. The first one is beam combining of new generation, high-brightness continuous wave 2.1 µm diode lasers.  The second one is a thulium fibre pumped Q-switched Ho3+:YAG laser. These two laser sources will then be made available to the Centre for laser materials processing evaluations that could exploit the 2.1 µm laser wavelength.
